New Music!
The National- High Violet

Item Description:
High Violet, the new full-length record by the National, is a nervy, melodic, explosive and beautiful set of songs that find the band at the height of their collaborative powers. The music is wide-ranging in its moods, by turns intimate and rough, expansive and spare, full of stark angles and atmosphere. Berninger’s singing—wild, half-broken, sly—evokes a feeling of being haunted, by love, by paranoia, by something just out of reach. High Violet may be The National’s most thematically twisted record to date but it somehow also manages to be their most infectious and immediate. Record Theatre’s CD stock has the “Limited Edition CD with Deluxe Foil Package & Bonus Poster Designed by the Band”. This title is also available on vinyl & is selling fast!

Jackson Browne & David Lindley- Love Is Strange

Item Description:
Jackson Browne & David Lindley’s Love Is Strange is a chronicle of their 2006 Tour of Spain. Performing in Madrid, Barcelona, Oveido and Sevilla. The experience is expressed by Jackson Browne as “a CD of some recorded moments, or perhaps a bridge, or a small door, between a life lived mostly in America and time spent with some really good friends in Spain.”

Hoodoo Gurus- Purity of Essence

Item Description:
Hoodoo Gurus are back in the game with their latest album ‘Purity Of Essence’. A jam session at a Sydney rehearsal studio earlier this year produced eight songs and set the template for their ninth studio record.

CocoRosie- Grey Oceans

Item Description:
CocoRosie are two American-born sisters, Sierra and Bianca, who started making music together in Paris in 2003. The nomadic duo (currently and temporarily residing in New Mexico) spent much of 2008 writing and recording in Buenos Aires, Melbourne, Berlin, New York, and Paris, finding amazing and diverse musicians to collaborate along the way. The result is their 11-song Sub Pop debut, Grey Oceans. Also available on vinyl!

The Dead Weather- Sea of Cowards

Item Description:
The latest musical adventure by Jack White (The White Stripes, The Raconteurs), epitomizes the alt-rock ethic–do the music you love, do it yourself, and do it fast. The Dead Weather brings together lead singer Alison Mosshart (half of the London-based lo-fi post-punk duo The Kills), Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Dean Fertita, The Raconteurs’ bassist Jack Lawrence, and White on drums and vocals.

The Hold Steady- Heaven is Whenever

Item Description:
After announcing the departure of keyboardist Franz Nicolay, the Hold Steady decided to return to the more stripped-down sound of their earlier records with their fifth album, Heaven Is Whenever.
Rolling Stone gives it- 4 stars out of 5 — “On HEAVEN IS WHENEVER, the Hold Steady don’t just show us how much they love classic rock — they make some of their own. It’s their most polished record, nearly majestic at points…”
